Perhaps the worst kept secret in South London clubbing for some time - we had to keep the lid on this until after the massive Shoom 25th anniversary parties - Now we are able to announce officially that the DJ Author House Pioneer DANNY RAMPLING and equally talented partner and soon to be Mrs. Rampling -ILONA INC - will be joining us this Friday for an exclusive back to back set. This isn't old or old skool [Our original idea was "old skool knees up" - but instead - we must stress - Rampling and Ilona will ...play what they want and how they want it - and is as on point as ever!] The Old skool idea was more about the Dogstar in the Brixton context and our 17 years of history... Music visionary Danny Rampling is a pioneer. Through his legendary Acid House club Shoom and subsequent stints with Kiss FM and  BBC Radio 1, Danny became a catalyst that has helped to shape dance music for over 20 years.

As a DJ for Kiss FM, Danny extended his influence over dance music and the changing attitudes of young London. He has became a household name in the UK after hosting BBC Radio 1’s Love Groove Dance Party and gained reputation internationally after touring the world and selling over a million compilation albums. As a result Danny has become a brand unto himself – building an global army of fans and a vast array of top business contacts.

In addition to his busy International touring schedule, Danny is also a regular at high profile private parties and fashion happenings spinning for George Michael, The Pet Shop Boys, Mick Hucknell, Gloria Estefan, Depeche Mode, Patrick Cox, Antonio Berardi and Boy George and occasionally programs the music soundtracks for leading high fashion catwalk shows.

Danny became a trustee of the Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Foundation in 2011, leading to speaking at the House of Commons on behalf of the Charity, uniting the Government and the global Dance Music Community for the project House The House raising awareness and funds for humanitarian and environmental causes.

Danny Rampling remains at the forefront of the music industry and retain’s a unique awareness that he passes on through his private music consultancy business, and wrote the book Everything You Need To Know About DJing & Success, originally launched in 2009 as a downloadable e-book, has recently been published by Aurum Press. To supplement this 350-page DJ Bible, Rampling shares his 20 years experience of the industry, and the hardback release comes with a four hour DVD of inspirational interviews courtesy of leading figures in the DJ industry including Pete Tong, Joey Negro and David Morales.

Danny will be hosting a special London Shoom event in December 2012 celebrating 25 years of Dance Music culture which sold out in an hour, a second date has now been added. His well-established radio presence continues with regular shows on some of the biggest dance music stations. Danny recently commenced album production with his wife, USA DJ Ilona Inc., to be released in 2013, sharing their passion for music as Electronic Dance Music continues to push forward.

a non stop full on hands in the air party mix that we should trademark :) as it has had the dance floor roadblocked every week since day 1. Hot Chip, Massive Attack, Stereo MCs, The Specials, Dreadzone, Jerry Dammers among others have guested recently - so there always are guests ... some announced - some not - to take things up a notch... but it ends up being a reliable and rather good night - whomever is at the controls. Block PARTY in full effect.
