DMX Krew are doing a free London party in October at Life. And lucky for us - Audio Sushi at the Dogstar in November. ..............................
Audio Sushi Track of the Day DMX Krew - Parking Orbit.............................. ARTIST: DMX KREW TITLE: WAVE FUNK LABEL: REPHLEX FORMAT: CD + BONUS DISC CATALOGUE NO: CAT 204 CD DISTRIBUTION UK: SRD RELEASED: 18 OCTOBER 2010 Evolving from where last album, 'Collapse of the Wave Function' (& more recent Wave Funk Vol.1 Vinyl EP) left off, ‘Wave Funk’ houses a wide variety of electronic styles; from synth pop to electro, funk and more experimental listening, the genius of DMX Krew shines through. Ed DMX lives in London where he makes music and runs his label Breakin' Records. He also travels around DJing and performing live most weekends in different parts of the world. The first DMX Krew release was 1995's "Got You On My Mind" on Dutch label DAP, and this was followed in 1996 by "Sound Of The Street" on Aphex Twin's label Rephlex. This record hinted at what was to come with its mix of instrumental electro, synthpop and techno made on vintage equipment. Lots more releases followed, mainly through Rephlex but also on diverse labels including International Deejay Gigolos, Ersatz Audio, Sonic Groove and several others. DMX Krew remixes have also appeared of various artists including Gentle People, Biochip C, Denki Groove, Le Car and many others. In 1997 Ed DMX started his label Breakin' Records which gained a cult following as one of the UK's first electro and bass labels with releases from DMX Krew and under the alias Computor Rockers, as well as first signings Bass Junkie, Mandroid and Ceephax Acid Crew. The last three albums and pair of 7" singles released on Rephlex under the umbrella of "The Collapse Of The Wave Function" reveal a deeper, more considered side to his production, featuring ambient and experimental tracks as well as quirkier dancefloor fillers. Ed has performed all around the world both as a DJ and as a live act, including several US tours with and without the Rephlex crew, most of western and northern Europe and a lot of eastern Europe too, numerous tours in Japan including WIRE99 in front of 8000 people with Derrick May and Denki Groove in the Yokohama Arena. In 2004 DMX Krew appeared for the first time in Australia and he continues to play out most weekends as one of the most popular and consistent Rephlex artists. ‘Wave Funk’ brings together 1 CD of brand new material + 1 CD of previously vinyl-only releases. 35 tracks of electro-funk genius! http://www.dmxkrew.com/ http://www.rephlex.com/ Tracklisting:- CD1 "Wave Funk" A1 Parking Orbit A2 I Can't Control The Feeling A3 Cherry Ripe b4 Mr Blue b5 Get Down (To The Sound) b6 Gorf Man b7 Otis c8 Gravity Boots c9 Wave Funk c10 I'm Back c11 Particle Burst d12 Zero Gravity D13 Day Out D14 Jupiter Mission D15 Neon Slime D16 ConFuzion D17 Metro 1990 CD2 “Prolapse Of The Wave Funnction” 01 Metronome 02 Bad Sector II 03 Probability Waves 04 Reverse Tachyon Beam 05 Meridian 1212 06 Monolith 07 Spinal Implants 08 Synchrotron Blue 09 Mars Memory 10 Space 11 Flanging 12 Garden Gate 13 Thrilling 14 The Monsignor 15 Brain Location Service 16 Clock Works 17 Byzantium 18 Funeral Procession
Saturday 11th September, 2010 AUDIO SUSHI Long running block Party rock session with Jeffrey Disastronaut playing a hyper party mix of reggae, dancehall, electro, rock, dubstep, jungle & indie with Special Guest Wrongtom
7pm-4am. The Dogstar, Coldharbour Lane, SW9 (020-7733 7515) free before 10pm, £5 after.
Wrongtom is a record producer and dj from South London, now residing in the not-so-trendy reaches of the east end, he spends his days playing with tape echo and watching B-movies in his makeshift studio hidden away in a converted nunnery.
Spanning over a decade, Tom’s career has covered a colourful patchwork of styles from Dancehall to Indie-Pop with the likes of Rockabilly, Dub, Ghettotech and Free Jazz filling the gaps in between. Starting out as a percussionist playing on records for Bob Jones’ Black On Black label and Kingsize, Tom soon taught himself to produce with some hand-me-down analogue gear and a cracked copy of Cubase, his early productions bridging the gap between new school breaks and old freestyle-electro records.
Somewhere down the line he got tangled in the web of pop music and in no time was touring the land with spiky soul boys Hard-Fi playing seemingly inappropriate records to thousands of indie kids which came to it’s ilogical conclusion on stage at Wembley Arena as 10,000 perplexed punters listened to a selection of B-More, Shut Up & Dance and Italo House classics. Through Hard-Fi, Tom notched up production credits on a UK number 1 LP and paved the way for his reggae/dub collective Stoneleigh Mountain Rockers, with whom he’s worked on projects for Trojan Records, Pama International (featuring 2 Tone luminary Lynval Golding) and now with UK rap legend Roots Manuva.
As a dj Tom’s traveled the world from Shanghai to Southampton playing in a variety of venues including sweaty basements, churches and even a former Yugoslavian army barracks, the bakery of the barracks in fact. Not content with subjecting the world to his record collection in the dance, he’s also tormented the airwaves via experimental station Resonance FM for a few years with his radio partner Mr Trick.
With his latest album with Roots Manuva in the can, you can expect a couple of new projects in the not so distant future, no doubt filling in a few more genre gaps on his CV in the process.

It’s a special day over here at Wrong Towers as the fruits of my project with Roots Manuva are finally being unleashed on the world. The LP drops next week but prior to that you can grab lead single Jah Warriors on 7″ or download which also features the non album track Bashment Bogle. So bust out your chip n pin, get down to your local record shop or order direct from the label or grab it from itunes.
To tie in with the release I’ve knocked up another cheeky bootleg using the Bashment Bogle beat and a vocal care of fellow UK rap legend Silver Bullet which you can grab for free from soundcloud…BELOW
Roots Manuva returns dropping the righteousness. The only brand new track from the forthcoming Roots Manuva meets Wrongtom project, “Duppy Writer,” “Jah Warriors” is a low-ended, bumping reggae-hip hop jam which sees Roots himself running through a host of lyrical styles and themes sounding as fresh and as fired up as he has in ages. Meanwhile, the one and only Ricky Ranking adds some soundsystem sweetness pon de chorus. The basic music for “Jah Warriors” was written and assembled by Mr Manuva. When he had something he liked, he handed it over to Wrongtom who re-worked the drums to fit with the rest of the project and added enough warm bass to really make the tune bounce. The results are dynamite – a tune which sounds simultaneously classic and utterly contemporary. The package is rounded out by “Bashment Bogle,” a sparse stepper based on the classic “Bashment Boogie” (and completely exclusive to this single), and “Rebuff” – a digi-club re-work of last year’s “Buff Nuff”. Warm, funny, infectiously danceable, “Duppy Writer” reveals Roots Manuva as one of the most compelling voices in the last two decades of British music. It also makes you smile. What else are you after? To coincide with the release of the Roots Manuva Meets Wrongtom single "Jah Warriors" wrongton has knocked up another cheeky boot, this time using fellow UK rap legend Silver Bullet (or 'Silvah' when Chemisinyadiss was released) and the rhythm track from Jah Warriors b-side "Bashment Bogle". Grab it, play it, and then go spend some money on the Jah Warriors 7"
