Gagarin is the name of the solo project of Graham " Dids " Dowdall who has been active on the outer limits of music for many years. He has worked with, amongst many others, Nico, Cale, Pere Ubu, Ludus, Suns of Arga, Bill Pritchard. He currently runs a small label GEO putting out his own music - as well as music by Iranian songstress Roshiand her band Pars Radio - her debut album is out late 09 - the Sky & the Caspian Sea. Also releasing material by Raf & O - a 3 piece from South London. In 2010 Gagarin released a series of remixes from Adaptogen featuring mixes from a bunch of great producers including Robert Logan, Youth, Mark from Rothko, Hybernation, others. April 2011 saw the release of a single 3KA-3 and Kedr to commemorate Yuri Gagarins first ever manned space flight on 12/4/1961. The new album Biophilia was released on June 20th - tracks from these are mostly only available via secret link - gagarin played lots of gigs around the release date - Nozstock Festival , Open Circuit - Cumbria , Nob Out Room, WInchester, Spirit of Gravity, Brighton, Cafe Concrete, Plymouth- the album has gained some great reviews including 4 stars from Mojo who described it as " electronica in its rawest form " and " SImply stunning " in Musicweek - late November will see a download single of 3rd Rail from the album with extended mixes from the incredible Bass Clef and Gagarin himself. A fantastic collaboration with Mark Beazley from Rothko has resulted in the debut album from Low Bias called the Ash and the Oak - out now in the best shops or from Tracereceordings website - join us on facebook to keep in touch

Gagarin is the solo incarnation of Graham “ Dids “ Dowdall – “ seminal

underground percussionist who has worked with edgy figures like Nico,

John Cale, Pere Ubu ”. As Gagarin he makes contrastingly warm and icy

electronic soundscapes. His latest album Biophilia has been acclaimed in

the way it melds elements from a variety of current bass cultures to create

a unique abstract sound . The album has been acclaimed including in Mojo

who described it as “ electronica in its rawest form “Musicweek which said

it was “ beautiful glitchy ambient electronica at its very best “ and Mixmag “

essential “.

A download only single of the track Third Rail inspired by the busy train

line outside his studio window has been released with a mix from itinerant

trombonist and sonic adventurer Bass Clef as well as adding his own epic

reworking. This has also gained huge praise all round.

Gagarin is currently helping label mate Roshi to rescore the silent classic

Amarilly of Clothes Line Alley for performance at the Purcell Room on March

9th.

Hot Chip, Massive Attack, Stereo MCs, The Specials, Dreadzone, Jerry Dammers among others have guested recently - so there always are guests ... some announced - some not - to take things up a notch... but it ends up being a reliable and rather good night - whomever is at the controls. The last 18 months have been good for Jeff Automatic. He wrapped up a
5-year residency at Club NME (at 1500-capacity Koko), began new ones at
21st Century Noise (Barfly) and Madrid's Pop&Dance/Low and flew in for his
bi-annual sessions at Bilbao's Fever, Valencia's Excuse Me?! and Munich's
Atomic Cafe…

…then he took his own Transmission electro event from London to Barcelona
(Razzmatazz), Benicassim and Regensburg; played at Space in Ibiza, on the
dance stage at the UK's Reading Festival (with Simian Mobile Disco, Nero,
Crystal Fighters & others), in a bull ring at Spain's Low Cost Festival
(after Placebo), with fire-breathers and robots at the first NME Weekender
festival and without sound for Silent Disco in FIB and Edinburgh
festivals; went on a Jack Daniels-sponsored Spanish tour with Lori Meyers;
and played the official after-parties for the NME Awards and Red Stripe
Award.

He also span tunes at other cool clubs across London, including The Nest,
Queen Of Hoxton and East Village, and in Perugia, Bratislava,
Wolverhampton, Amsterdam, Cadiz, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Alicante, Aranda,
Huesca, Hamburg, Brighton, Innsbruck, Pontevedra, Vigo, Castellon and
Ghent.

Jeff also hosts "Dance Dance Dance To The Radio", a show for internet
station Shoreditch Radio, with fellow DJ Mikey Four, which has over 800
iTunes subscribers after only 20 shows.

The Irish Times have called him a "well-travelled indie/electro
rabble-rouser" whilst London's Time Out said "Jeff Automatic continues to
straddle the divide between dance and indie with ne'er a concern for his
tight black jeans"!
