Audio Sushi Track of the Day : Buchanan & Goodman - The Flying Saucer (Parts 1 & 2)

Audio Sushi Track of the Day :  Buchanan & Goodman - The Flying Saucer (Parts 1 & 2)

The world's first "break-in" record, by Bill Buchanan and Dickie Goodman, issued July 1956 on Luniverse 101.

This is a restoration of the original pressing, before copyright lawyers forced Goodman to replace some of the musical clips with other versions of the same songs. Both sides are included.

Although Dickie Goodman's records have been reissued on CD, virtually none of them have escaped the re-editing process, so you can't purchase this recording in this form in a modern format.

Jonty Skrufff Biography Summer 2010

Taking up DJing in London just over five years ago, nowadays Berlin based British DJ/ producer/ blogger Jonty Skrufff has since traveled the world, spinning in 25 countries from Japan to Lithuania and Bosnia to Brazil.

Mixing together an original blend of high-octane alternative electro and techno to create his distinctive big room sound, he’s headlined many of the world’s best superclubs including G Plus (China), Opium (Ukraine), Stadium and X2 (both Indonesia) and Roxy (Czech Republic), where he’s played 8 times so far.

Simultaneously publishing his acclaimed sex-drugs-politic-music zine Skrufff-E (available from his blog @ http://skrufff.com) he’s also become a regular in Ibiza playing Judgement Sunday for the last 3 years, and Pacha (where he picked up a prestigious residency for Summer 2009.)

Touring Brazil six times (he’s back again for his seventh trip this June), he’s also becoming a regular at Serbia’s Exit Festival where he’ll be making his third appearance this July at the 3,000 capacity Suba stage. In between, he’s also headlining Bosnia’s festival in a castle Neofest for the third time (in June.).

Festivals and superclubs aside (in London he held a 12 month residency at Fabric (DTPM)) the eyeliner-loving Brit is also a frequent guest at underground/ mixed clubs and parties and is as comfortable playing to fashion conscious hipsters as he is to the 6,000 Beijing locals who saw him headline the city’s first official (western) New Years event in 2007.

Starting making music just last year, he enjoyed similarly rapid success with his debut production Trainwreck, a track he made together with Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules (which appeared on Jules’ 2009 artist album Bring The Noise (credited to Jules and Jonty jointly).

His next production, a ferocious floor-friendly remix of techno-rockers Motor’s single ‘Death Rave’, came out on T Raumschmiere’s Shitkatapult in Europe and Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records in the US last summer, and fared even better.

With Jonty’s version (Jonty Skrufff’s Revved Up Remix) the only Death Rave remix released by each label, the likes of the Chemical Brothers and Soulwax gave full support, while German magazine Electronic Beats dubbed it a ‘masterpiece’. More recently (January 2010) French independent music organisation Qwartz selected the remix as one of seven nominees for their Best Track of 2009 award in their ‘Dancefloor/ Clubbing’ category, after choosing it from 4,077 tracks the Qwartz’ judges first listened to.

His latest remix of British techno newcomer Dare & Haste (dubbed Jonty Skrufff’s Gothic Horror Remix) came out on Advanced Records in April 2010, receiving Radio 1 plays and support from the likes of Mixmag (‘Dancefloor mayhem. Loving Jonty Skrufff's mix’), DJ Pierre, Laurent Garnier and progressive superstar DJ Sasha (‘I love your remix, it fits brilliantly into my set’).

His next production, a remix of Lady B’s Believe In Me (titled Jonty Skrufff’s Apostle 13 Remix’) is a similarly crunching, electro-tech dance-floor destroyer, and comes out on Lady B’s Interférences in shortly (like Death Rave, on vinyl).

While living in London he produced and presented a weekly radio show on Ministry Of Sound Radio for two years and now presents Germany Calling on new Berlin station BLN.FM (once a month with Fidelity Kastrow and Mark Reeder). He’s also joined the Amsterdam Dance Event as a moderator and onstage interviewer this year and is a consultant for the Jakarta Annual Electronic Dance Music Event (JADE) in Indonesia.

Jonty Skrufff is one of the mythical characters of global club culture, who’s renowned for being both an innovative and brave DJ and hugely influential (and bold) journalist.”

--------------------------

Tresor Berlin (August 2007):

“At the opening night parties Back In May, Batterieraum fans didn't know what hit them when the dirty rocking bass heavy electro-tech spins by UK's Jonty Skrufff met the sex-soaked electro style of Berlin's Fidelity Kastrow – these were sparks to remember.”

--------------------------

Judge Jules, Judgement Sunday, Ibiza, July 2007

--------------------------

Marcella Zanki, Metropolis, Split, Croatia (October 2006)

Jonty’s started a revolution in our town. People here never heard a set like the one he played- everybody's jumping around, dancing, and his energy is spreading around and going up. We want more definitely.”

--------------------------

Gregor Zavcer, Supreme FM and Absinthe Supreme, Ljubljana, Slovenia (October 2006)

"Thank you! It was a great party! We really enjoyed your dirty punking rocking electro set and we also received only positive feedback from the crowd! We're going to meet again soon!"

--------------------------

Predrag Nikolic, Exit Festival (Electrana Stage Organiser), Serbia (July 2006)

"For your absolutely fuckin' great performance at Exit I have to say only this: Jonty is a prophet from the future and he KNOWS where electro music goes! He takes us there! And now I'm a believer!""

--------------------------

Michal Walterstein, Roxy Prague PR Director, Clubber.cz editor in chief (January 2006)

“Incredible, fantastic, amazing . . . I don’t know how to express the energy of Jonty Skrufff’s DJ set. His rocking electro-disco-tech simply rocks!!!! and makes people dance all night. They all did in Roxy and O2 club in Prague, Czech Republic. We want Jonty back soon!“

--------------------------

Jaime Ho, Promoter, Club Volar, Hong Kong, China (November 2005)

“You did an awesome job at Volar. Thanks for putting your heart into it.”

--------------------------

Chris Lowe, Pet Shop Boys, UK (July 2005)

"Just a quick note to say I love your mix CD for MOS radio. Could you send me a track listing?"
