SLACK IN CHINA

slack sabbath is going to china
then 2 big shows in brighton
and london - 25th sept and 2nd oct
respectively - and note: there is
a club callng itself slack in shoredtich
- not mine...

slack sabbath this sunday @ the white hart n16 london

Slack Sabbath 7pm-close Free
disastronaut presents slacksabbath club: a long running left field music club, music publishers, record label and promoter... putting on various acts from aphex twin to z [the singer/songwriter]; no discernable music policy except whats good - grime, industrial, air guitar, electro, bleep, creep, post rock and sleep... have put on over 1000 bands. no names to the ramones, suicide and white stripes.

for the n16 fringe festival we are co-curating the night with local magazine Vomit in the Mainstream [ independenly published by Karina from Fame will come later - who also make clothing and host art events in their stoke / hackney loft.

Beaver County [live]
Peter Hope-Evans from the legendary 1970s psychaedelic rockers Medicine Head plays jew's harp, mouth organ and other bits of metal
in this 2 piece band. Peter is joined by Jeff Disastronaut, local writer and musician, and the result is a journey through a fictional Pennsylvania county that most resembles the real place where Jeffrey spent the summers of his Childhood and later University. Stories of ducks that walk on fishes' backs, horses that sing and the vagaries of public indeceny and the intrusion of the 'interweb' into rural life all against a background of simple orchestral guitars and complex mouth work from Mr. Hope-Evans. Jeffrey contributes to Vomit in the Mainstream and will be reading "What i Did when I was supposed to be in Church," from the Fear issue. over 18s only please.

John E. Cash Money [live]
Although the great man is dead - the music and memory of Johnny Cash lives on. John E. Cash Money, as the name adequately illustrates, make humourously slanted takes on the great man's music and are great live performers.

Damzels in Distrezz [live]
Karina's own band - D in D - is a beautifully shambolic duo that takes inspiration from acts like Patti Smith, Cat Power and Nick Drake, but mixes in equal measures of bohemian Berlin, lipstick and underground angst.

Annie Frank Sinatra [live]
Poetic, acoustic meanderings - recently featured at the Clerkenwell literature festival.

Disastronaut's slack sabbath saturday night Smash club
left MAsh on great portland street when it closed down
for a "refit."

We've loved the time off [all 2 saturdays] and are
getting geared up for alot of Air miles - 100,000+
for the rest of the year. [we're going to plant alot
of trees in our spare time...] and places like
hong kong, australia, the americas, irland, sri lanka
and all over europe - with some Barcelona gigs soon
in the late fall / early winter between my sister's wedding
in Ohio [27th nov] and christmas...

and a flood of new records coming in - a track by
my brother greg is getting heavy play here - and some new
bootlegs and mashups - now its not fashionable anymore...

mail me for a wicked AC/DC house banger.

LARGEST AIR GUITAR ENSEMBLE
The following act as a guide to the specific considerations
and undertakings, in addition to the general requirements,
for any potential attempt on the 'Largest air guitar ensemble'.
They should be read and understood by all concerned –
organisers, participants and witnesses – prior to the event.

RULES
This record is for an air guitar ensemble consisting of the most
players, properly conducted under concert conditions. (Free or
open-air recitals are acceptable.)
1. All members of the ensemble should be proficient musicians and they
must be directed by an experienced air guitarist.
2. Should the participants not be proficient musicians, it is
permissible to hold an air guitar lesson before the attempt. This
lesson must be taught by an experienced air guitarist, preferably
someone who has competed in the Air Guitar World Championships.
3. The person leading the ensemble must be an experienced air
guitarist, and details of his qualifications must be submitted to
Guinness World Records prior to the event.
4. A formal registration process should take place. The number of
musicians is confirmed by individuals signing their own names once
only on a form witnessed by two independent persons. No 'ditto' marks
accepted.
5. As full a recital as possible should be given to be directly
comparable with the original record but, if this is not practicable, a
recognised pieces of guitar based music lasting at least five minutes

6. Should more than one piece of music be performed a pause of no
longer than 30 seconds is permitted between numbers.
7. Acoustic or electric air guitars may be played.
8. Improvisation is not permitted.
9. Sufficent stewards must be provided to ensure all participants are
actively playing their air guitars for the duration of the rendition
10. Those participants deemed not playing sufficently will be asked to
stop playing and disregarded from the total count.
11. The name of the organisation, company or person(s) organising the
attempt should be given along with the date and place.

Smash Club every Saturday @ MASH w1 : sMaSh club - every saturday at mash. 9pm-2am. free admission. dj edits, mashups, dj only white labels

every saturday for months now - disastronaut and friends have been packing out this space age microbrewery with a mix that frankly tends to go off the track each week - new bootlegs like white stripes 'blue orchid' vs. kraftwerk 'antenna' are driving them very wild. and to top it off last week - the one and only ever fight [more handbags at dawn than real kerfluffle] happened to the now anthemic eye of the tiger vs. scissor sisters comfortably numb vs. candi staton's you've got the love vs. frankie knuckles -your love -!

and this week very special and mysterious guest DJ A comes to play hands in the air stuff and new twists on old favorites... we've just made a prodigy vs/ pointer sisters thats really good... anyway - it opens at 9pm and shuts at 2. free admission. and please no fighting during Rocky releated mashups! the music ranges from the sublime to the daft [punk that is] so expect a mix with: deejay punk roc, snoop dogg, kelis, mcsleazy, daft punk, interpol, dizzee rascal, young mc, chemical brothers, thomas the tank engine, charlatans, michael jackson, red hot chili peppers, disposable heroes of hiphopresy, led zeppelin, kasabian, kelis, menswear, beyonce, beastie boys, david bowie, michael jackson, beastie boys, franz ferdinand, nirvana, destinys child, harold faltermeyer, kaye styles, britney spears, charlatans, twista, new order, the ceasers, d12, filterheads, rolling stones, sham 69, joan of ass, the music of the spheres, napoleon dynamite, covers, strange noises and no MC - unless you count MC Hammer who's "Can't touch This" which rather sadistically has been paired with "Touch me Touch Me Touch me" from Rocky Horror... love definitely is in the air.
