RIP McQ

Moussa Clarke - February 2010 Mix Session

Dear Friends,

Just finished a new mix session finally, long time since I've done a
new one! This one starts off quirky and techy, passes through big room
and proggy sounds before winding up in a thoroughly uplifting piano
finale - tracks and remixes from the likes of Seamus Haji, Dumb Dan,
Mike Monday, Phunk Investigation, Felix Baumgartner, Ellie Goulding,
Riva Starr, Russ Chimes, Hard Rock Sofa, Swanky Tunes, Eelke Kleijn
and yours truly. Let me know if you need a tracklist :-)

Here's the link to a 192k mp3, please feel free to forward it to as
many people as possible!

All the best,
Moussa

Bio  [From Stock]

BIO: of Stock aka Stockmashin

STOCK

What is hip hop ?. It is almost a trick question, Dizzy Rascal, Wiley,
Lil Wayne, Kanye West, 50 Cent and Eminem have all blurred the
boundaries between pop and hip hop in recent times.

So now to the next “big thing”, Stock.  This guy knows no boundaries,
musically you will have a job to try and shackle him or pigeon hole
him and live wise he will blow your mind as he picks up a cornet,
blows half way through one track, and the guitar on another. Like
Kanye West, Stock is so much more than simply just “another” hip hop
act he is a pure entertainer has his live shows up and down the UK
have shown.

Now based in the UK but originally from America (Detroit, Michigan)
Stock has spent some three years working on this his debut album. The
first single is the breathtaking "Find My Way” everybody that has
heard it from A&R people to Radio Pluggers has used one word to
describe it “hit”. Stock’s conscious lyrical rap is something that the
world has being crying out for. When he moved to the UK Stock won a
music talent competition with established ILR station 97.4 Rock FM.
Stock was amazingly picked out of over 2000 demos, so it endorses what
a huge talent he is. His prize for being picked was performing with
Daniel Beddingfield, Will Young,  and others at Feel The Noise Live at
Ewood Park, Blackburn. A lot of interest from the media and a lot of
airplay followed on the likes of Radio 1 and many regional ILR
stations. Things continued to progress whilst Stock put his debut
album together, this included a placement of his song "Bounce The
Bandit Club Remix ft. Skrapp" was featured in the soundtrack of the
$114 million White Chicks Movie (Right after the dance off in Club
Scene).

So to today Stock is quite simply the next level in Hip-Hop and as he
prepares to release his debut single "Find My Way" in May 2010 and
here is your chance to hear and support it in advance. In support of
the coming album, Stock is performing Live shows all over the UK
starting in London. On the album Stock has worked with multi platinum
producers Dwight Reynolds (Akon, Whitney Houston and back in the day
Another Level) and Ian Little (Produced Biggest # 1 Hits for Duran
Duran) and has also enlisted some hot UK producers in Konkrete
Productions and Clique Productions Soundrules. Stock also has produced
tracks on the album himself. The icing on the cake for this stunning
debut album comes via its mastering at the 5am Production Studios in
the UK, 5am have been responsible for so many urban hits in recent
years for the likes of Lemar, Usher, Kelly Rowland and many more. He
has recently supported the other artists such as Simon Webbe (Blue),
Wiley, Lemar, and Soul 2 Soul. Also, Stock was part select few
promoted by Microsoft Windows. He was chosen out of 500,000 bands /
artists to be a part of their promotional campaigns in conjunction
with Reverbnation.com, where they promoted two of Stock's songs
through Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter.

With that in mind, sit back crank up the volume and come on this
amazing musical journey with a hip hop act that will simply re-write
the boundaries of hip hop.

Gorgeous Penguin book cover (detail)  done under the art direction of the German typographer Jan Tschichold (1902-1974). Reminds me of a future Nathan J. Whitey album cover perhaps?

Audio Sushi x Urban Junkies : Oh! Canada playlist

I was asked by The Editor at Urban Junkies to pick some of my favourite Canadian artists so i came up with this list.
Tiga, The Stills, Sixtoo, Peaches, Mocky, Kid Koala,  K-0S, Holy Fuck, The Haunted, godspeed you black emperor!,
Feist,Deadmau5, Classified, Caribou and The Arcade Fire. Neil Young, Rush, Celine fucking Dion, Bryan Adams, etc
i thought were a little too obvious. I know I've missed some and passed over much - but if you're from Canada
or secretly Canadian - we love you. Tracks: http://bit.ly/d40WQU
