In seven days, I will go Into hospital for a second open heart surgery. My mitral valve will be replaced with a mechanical one and my tricuspid valve will also need to be repaired. I am feeling surprisingly good considering. I would just like to thank those of you who have offered your support. I wish you a long and happy life.last Sunday

BIOGRAPHY

Lennie Lee began as a painter in the 1980s. His paintings might loosely be described as “modern primitive” taking elements from primitive cultures as well as appropriating elements of contemporary popular and unpopular culture. He continues to work as a painter to this day.

He has also worked with various media including posters, prints, performance, video and installation. He has made work with discarded material in disused spaces where he became fascinated by the power of certain objects to disgust, shock, outrage.

Some of his best work involves live or recorded performance. His performances incorporate large installations. He confronts issues about sex, politics, religion and death.

Although Lee works with all aspects of contemporary popular culture, He likes to explore areas that are taboo, confronting people with their hidden assumptions in the hope that they will be released from fear.

He deals with sickness, personal shame, fear and prejudice. He touches the boundaries of morality, taste, religion, political shame, and what might be termed "Unpopular Culture".
