00:25 update - 4.5 miles offshore - tantalisingly close - a strong current is pushing us sideways at moment so bear with us ! Mmr Cookstown should be Landing on the south side of cap Nes Gris ( grey nose point ) we would have liked to go straight in but now might have to go around - Lucas is strong as he started & has held a beautiful swim line .... We're almost there 2-3 hours left of swimming .... Epic effort for him and his charity Charis #english #channel #swimming
Mmr Cookstown update 23:36pm if there's a "hard part" to the swim this is it ! Still 7/8 miles to swim in pitch blackness now - he's amazingly strong - and working each hour for a feed & a 55 second break... He's swimming quite close to the boat - holding an incredible line in a big spring tide /--'Lucas is a beast!! Look at the tracking and you'll be able to cheer him on (!and in !) thanks for the hundreds of messages he will see each and every one after this swim !! Next update 12:30am ( gmt ) stroke rate 48 strokes per minute / 17 water / 13 air / sea state is still slight / we'll be picking up tide now and pushing us down to then cap Gris nes point - Eddie ANASTASIA is captain today - only one other boat out tonight - a relay team containing a the world record channel swimmer!
Painted worry-ometer yesterday for a good reason! The weather has been so variable in the English channel some swimmers have waited more than a month for their slot.... The swimming / eating 1/2 your weight in jellyfish regime is going to continue to the foreseeable future ! taking the giant Polish swimmer Lucas up to heathfield now to show him a country auction... As we wait for the call for his swim.
