Making a house a home: 25 years of Hastings Furniture Service
Our furniture reuse charity has been helping people with low incomes make houses into homes for 25 years in October 2013.
Thousands of Hastings and Rother households have used our service to access a choice of affordable furniture, household goods and paint, come to us to furnish a home from scratch after fleeing an unsafe house, or used our cost-price removal service to move into a new home.
As a local independent charity with humble beginnings at the Robert Tressell Workshops, we are proud to have developed so much – particularly our craft training projects that help people discover their creativity, confidence and capability – and to have sustained this resource for our community for 25 years.
We have also joined the Community Repaint Network and started a reused paint store so now people can decorate as well as furnish their homes with HFS.
