Audio Sushi is 2
the local pub club mashup Punk n Judy show of London Clubs turns 2 and celbrates Crossdressing Rock Dub n Dance tracks melted down and CDS burned off into a furious [and admittedly Disastrous by Design] by Disastronaut [long tooth, usa expatriot Deejay/Producer/daddy to Atom aged 3/ etc.]
mix of Street Party Block Rocking Velvet Pop Assault thats part Street Cred Dubstep Rave Fidgit Regional electro
Dance fiasco then ruined by Wedding classics remixed by 8-bit emoticons in the trash can... Psychaedelic juxes and
quite good eclectronica or possibly Eclectronic ? Anyway, club on a roll and mostly under stated... Coming up to 2nd birthday
already and on 22/23 we have a 2 night thing.... on 22nd a 3 room circus NME aftershow [Does it offend you, yeah!] are
doing their official one after the Academy show - then on 23rd - Disastronaut rolls up his customised sleeves and gets on
his Audio Sushi Classics reel and puts down 400-500 of his favorite tracks in little over 7pm-4am 8 hours... versions,
classics, same songs different mixes, same tune different artists, Riddim selection versions, and any request made
as his set is now hardwired into his beatup laptop - but literally any track almost ever made can be asked for
best juxes this week ["Ive got a brand new pair of Rollerskates" mashed up with aphex twin, mob depp and The wurzels.]
anyway - the djs are chosen for crossover - djs who play indie/reggae/uptempo soul joints/electro without
worry and Wrongtom mixes sea shanties with Bhangra, Suicide Dogz is ripping the place sideways every place he plays
and Dread is a long-time Brixton legend...
[ps. Audio Sushi just won Daily Candy's Sweetest Thing 2007 Award!]
fri feb.16 : Wrongtom [Hard-fi]
DJ Wrongtom has made a name for himself as the tour DJ, remixer and sometime producer for the multi-platinum album selling Hard-Fi. As well as acting as the Don Letts to Hard-Fi's Clash, Tom has found time to work on several remixes for the likes of Trojan Records and Catskills Records, put together a cover Mix CD for Mixmag, DJ'ed for Lilly Allen at Stringfellows and assembled the astonishing Cassettiquette mix CD that was an instant sell-out on it's under the counter release this year. Sometimes on 4 decks, often keeping it simple with just 2, always guaranteed to rock the dance. Wrongtom was once described as a bastion of the unexpected though you're as likely to catch him playing a straight hip hop or dancehall set as you are to stumble into a routine that could include anything from punk-funk disco dubs to bhangra and sea shanties.
